For Immediate Release Songwriter Joe Kirsch spans 3 decades in the Music Biz
Starting as a young musician in the early 70s, showcasing at some of NYCs legendary Greenwhich Village haunts such as Mills Tavern, The Back Fence, and Kennys Castaways by 1976 as guitarist, and songwriter for The Rhythm Express, Joe and this Top-40 band were scheduled to headline at The Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. Under the short lived management of Lou Carr Entertainment, the Rhythm Express worked with some of the industrys inner-circle names of the day including Jerry Lewis (MDS telethon), Joe Franklin, and Jimmy Angel (Delite Records). But it was a sudden change in management in the late 70s, along with the exposure, and the buzz that lead to the band opening for Deborah Harry (Blondie) at the infamous Anti-Anita Bryant festival on NYCs Christopher Street where over 10,000 danced the night (and Anita) away.
In the early 80s Joe Kirsch entered the world of radio and the broadcast industry where he composed program themes for National Public Radio arts and news programs such as Artist In The City featuring Jenny Dixon, and In The Media with Don Matheson. It was at this time, based on frequent airplay that Joe was accepted as a full ASCAP member. In addition to composing themes for NPR and special event music (NY Mets, NY Rangers, JVC Jazz Festival) Joe continued an active touring and live performance roll in bands such as Ashley Roe, and Axis Power whose independent EP release was produced by David Reaves of NYCs WHTZ Z100 Radio (and brother of MCA new age artist Giles Reaves). However it was Joes Behind The Music abilities, working with acts such as Marvin Hamlisch, Bernadette Peters, New Edition, Stevie Wonder, and John Fogerty, that enabled Joe to continue to make a living in the industry, and at the same time fine tune his contacts and crafts.
Today, Joe Kirsch remains active in the industry and on the street as a songwriter, musician, and music consultant for some of NYCs top artists and show bands. He's been in the top 10 of some of the largest on-line sites, signed to publishing deals, and presented at the majors such as Interscope/A&M records. Material from his catalog has been listed as on-target for submission for a long list of major recording artists including Hilary Duff, Josh Groban, Panic At The Disco,Celine Dion, Fergie, and more.
The first single released from his WOODPOINT ROAD album release, "Where Were You From The Start", has attracted a new fan base in just about every state in the union. With the highest concentration of fans in both the 25-34 and 35-44 demographic, as well as an impressive showing in the 18-24 age group, the CD cuts across the meat of the buying public.
