Automated MP3 Batch Tagger:
Download the zip file here
OS: Windows
COST: Free (As with all of my free software, I appreciate an e-mail from you telling me that
you are using it)
The Automated MP3 Batch Tagger is the perfect tool for adding TAGS (meta data) to a number
of MP3 files at once. The software adds TITLE, ARTIST, ALBUM, YEAR, COMMENTS, and GENRE to
all files in a selected directory. The AUTOMATION & MOVE TO features allow you to set
how often you would like to have a tag job run on a directory. Once the files are tagged
they can be moved to a "safe" directory so that the next batch of files can be
added to the "tagging" directory for the next tagging cycle
- No installation is required
- It adds no files to your system other than the Executable that you
download and place.
- It adds nothing to the system registry
- It contains no spyware
- It's free for use.
Installation:
Your system should include all required supporting files. If not,
simply Google for any DLL or other supporting files in which you get a "missing
file" error for.
- Download the zip file here
- Unzip, and place the following file in any directory
- mp3batchtagger.exe
- Create a shortcut to mp3batchtagger.exe and place it on your desktop
Configuration:
- Enter the common ARTIST, ALBUM, YEAR, COMMENT, & GENRE text into
those fields. This is the information that will be tagged into ALL of the MP3 files.
- The TITLE tag will use the actual FILE NAME less the file extension.
- Use the DRIVE, DIRECTORY, and FILE controls to navigate to the
directory that contains the MP3 files that you wish to tag. Only files with the .MP3
extension will be listed.
- You can read the CURRENT TAG information for each file by DOUBLE
CLICKING the file name.
- If you would like the files to be MOVED to another directory after
they are tagged, CHECK ON the check box (Move to directory after tagging) and enter the
path of AN EXISTING DIRECTORY. Example: c:\taggedfiles. The directory MUST already exist.
If not, the application will error message you.
- Press the TAG THEM button, and the tags will be placed in all of the
MP3 files in the selected directory.
AUTOMATION:
- Use the AUTOMATION combo box to select how often (in minutes) you
would like the software to perform a tag job on the selected directory. You also can enter
non-integer values (Example: .5 = 30 seconds)
- The MOVE FILES feature is especially handy in the automation mode. If
you would like the files to be MOVED to another directory after they are tagged, CHECK ON
the check box (Move to directory after tagging) and enter the path of AN EXISTING
DIRECTORY. Example: c:\taggedfiles. The directory MUST already exist. If not, the
application will error message you.
- Press the START BUTTON to begin the countdown. The AUTOMATION
COUNTDOWN field will begin counting down the time (in seconds) to the next batch job
